ICE “Wellness” Checks Stoke Fear of Future Arrests

Since February, advocates have reported an increase in home “wellness checks” by federal agents. The Trump administration has ordered immigration agents to conduct surprise home visits to interview the sponsors of unaccompanied migrant children. The claimed purpose of these visits is ensuring all immigrant children are accounted for; however, opponents to the home visits have argued that most of the children visited by federal agents have been accounted for by school enrollment or active participation in immigration proceedings.
